synovial sarcoma is not necessarily found solely in the synovial fluid. One case got it

nope. mine was in my groin wrapped around nerves and vessels it really has nothing to do with "synovial fluid" despite the word

But, another fellow said that it did start in the joint, it just moves down to the thigh where it becomes noticeable.
Hey Joseph. It's actually a very common location, the appearance of the tumor is on the "thigh" area but the original tumor starts internally at the hip joint/pelvic area and it usually once it's big enough to be noticable it's in the "thigh area".
In any case, it's not always in the joint; synovial indicates "near a joint

And then there's Olga, who has great ideas about the treatment of synovial sarcoma:

Hi, synovial sarcoma is a very aggressive sarcoma and its clean resection is the most important aspect of its treatment. It is also relatively radioresistant. You might want to see some other sarcoma surgeon for the second opinion as the recommendation to leave the unresected part and irradiate it doesn't sound right to me. Synovial sarcoma is always a high grade and grade 2 in this case just means that it was not locally advanced (big) or metastatic (grade 4). I have no idea but some other surgeon might find a way to resect it without the removal of a joint but in any case - you need to have it out, synovial sarcoma has a very high local and distant spread rate. Good luck.
