I thought I'd start just with a case history snagged from sarcomaalliance.com:

When it first appeared, I thought it was a sting or maybe a spider bite. When it didn't get any better, I showed it to my primary care doctor who said he thought it was either a cyst or an abscess and told me to use warm compresses to draw up so it could be lanced on my next visit.

One type of it is cutaneous leiomyosarcoma.

. Cutaneous leiomyosarcomas are commonly located on the extensor surfaces of the extremities, particularly lower legs. Cut surface reveals a grayish white whorled appearance. Local recurrences may occur. There is usually no evidence of metastasis.

and wikipedia says:

Leiomyosarcoma (Smooth Muscle Tumor) Uterine Sarcoma & Gastrointestinal Sarcoma -Soft Tissue Cancer
Leiomyosarcomas are cancerous tumors of the smooth muscle. They most commonly occur in the organs (e.g., gastrointestinal tract and the uterus). The average age of patients is 60 years. Of the tumors occurring in the GI tract 61% occur in the stomach, 29% in the small bowel, and 10% in the colon. Symptoms of GI or uterine leiomyosarcomas are significant bleeding and pain. Metastases occur in more than half of patients.
